Four district officials were removed from their posts following a public quarrel between the Karauli Zila Parishad CEO and a Block Development Officer in Karauli district.

The officials were posted and put under APO (Awaiting Posting Orders) status after the fight which occurred on Saturday. The BDO was also initially found to have thrashed his senior officer following which he was arrested yesterday and remanded to judicial custody for 15 days, police said.

Initial investigation found that BDO Babli Jat was threatening CEO Shamsuddin for some time after the latter complained against him to seniors about laxness in duty, SHO Karauli Police Station Kailash Bohra said today.

On Saturday morning, Jat went to the CEO's quarters and abused him for complaining against him. He also threatened him and pelted stones at his house before leaving, the SHO said.

Later, Shamsuddin along with a few others went to Panchayat Samiti premises where they confronted Jat and a fight ensued in which both received injuries.

"A detailed report of the incident was forwarded to the state government following which the CEO, BDO an Executive Engineer and an Assistant Statistical Officer were put under the APO status on Sunday," Karauli District Collector Vikram Singh said today.
