Aizawl district SP Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said that the four prisoners were re-arrested from an obscure Nghalchawm hamlet, near Lengpui Airport, about 30 km west of Aizawl, late last night.
All the police stations and outposts on the border areas had been alerted, he said.
The jail-break occurred on Tuesday night after the five inmates sneaked out from their cells by using keys reportedly made by them and by climbing over the walls with the help of blankets when there was reportedly a power failure in the prison.
