With the arrest of four persons, police today claimed to have solved an abduction and murder case of a youth, who went missing on August 4 this year.
Police said that the arrested have been identified as Aasif Khan (40), Jahid Salman (49), Sharukh (19) and Praveen Jahn (32), adding that Aasif had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Mehtab.
"On August 4, All accused abducted Mehtab in car and strangulated him to death. Thereafter, they threw his dead body in the a canal in Meerut of Uttar Pradesh," said a senior police officer.

Police said that Aasif's nephew Rabish Khan had a relationship with Mehtab's sister and later, he eloped with her and married her.
"Aasif told police that for this, Mehtab allegedly beat him and his brother. Then, Aasif decided to take revenge and hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Mehtab and involved Jahid, Sharukh, and Praveen in the plan," police said.
Officer also said that all accused have been arrested in the case and on their confession, a thorough search has been made to recover the body of Mehtab. But the body could not be traced.
Police said that efforts are still in progress and the investigation is going on.
