Four persons, including two police constables and a railway contractor, have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a delivery boy along with a parcel from Central Delhi containing Rs 50 lakh and mobile phones and robbing off the money and goods after dumping the victim.

According to the police, Raj Bahadur alias Raju (Delhi Police Constable, Surender Kumar Verma (Haryana Police Constable), Sanjay alias Dharamvir and Vasudev Prasad (Railway Contractor) were arrested yesterday by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. Three of their associates are still at large.

"We have recovered Rs 12 lakh cash and household goods worth more than Rs 1.5 lakh purchased from the robbed amount. Besides this, one Toyota Corolla car, one Wagon R car and four mobile phones used in the commission of crime have also been recovered," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.

What is interesting in the case is that while the victim claims that there were Rs 50 lakh in the parcel, those arrested say that they got Rs 43 lakh in it.

Another question which remains is that how can such huge amount of cash gets transported in railway parcel. Police said that they will write to Railway authorities in this regard.

On April 22, one Rishi Chand, who worked for a cargo carrier company of Allahabad approached police and reported that on April 13, he collected a parcel from New Delhi Railway Station which was sent from Allahabad in Prayag Raj Express train. The parcel was containing cartons of mobile phones and cash Rs 50 lakh.

"When he was taking the parcel in a rickshaw towards Pahar Ganj side, he was intercepted by 4-5 persons, two of whom were wearing police uniform. He was forcibly taken towards Faridabad in a black car along with the parcel and after robbing he was dumped in the area of Surajkund, Faridabad," said Yadav.

He was threatened not to disclose anything to anyone. Therefore, he got so frightened that he could not report the matter immediately, he said.

During investigation, specific information was received that three persons namely Surender, Sanjay and Vasudev Rai, who were involved in this crime, would come near Sibbal Cinema, Badarpur.

Accordingly, a trap was laid and at about 2 pm, the trio who had come in a black Corolla car was apprehended. During search, Rs 5.25 lakh from Surender, Rs 2.55 lakh from Sanjay and Rs 2.80 lakh cash from Vasudev was recovered.
