Four persons arrested for running duplicate guthka units

Four persons including son of Berhampur Urban Cooperative Bank (BUCB) president were arrested for allegedly running duplicate gutkha producing units at Baunsiaplli on the outskirts of this silk city, police said today.

Prabhat Kumar Swain (28), son of BUCB Preaident Duryodhan Swain, was arrested during the operation yesterday for allegedly playing a major role in making and packing of duplicate gutkhas of various brands, Inspector In-Charge of Berhampur Sadara police station, Siba Shankar Mohapatra, said.

At least four packing machines were also seized from Baunsiapalli and Bhutaplli where duplicate gutkha were packed, police said.

Other arrested persons were identified as Saroj Kumar Nayak (20) of Nilanchala Sahi, Nilanchal Pradhan (27) and his brother Niranjan (20) of Duduma Colony, police said.
 

Another accused person in the case is at large and efforts are on to nab him, they said.
