A case for cheating, fraud and lifting of vehicles has been registered against Javed Ahmed Dar of Sopore, Bashir Ahmed of Poonch, Abdul Latief of Baramulla and Vinod Singh of Jammu, a spokesperson of Crime Branch (Jammu) said.
Subash Chander, running a business of motor spare parts, had recently filed a complaint with the CB in which he claimed that two vehicles purchased from Dar were stolen since the documents provided were found to be fake and fabricated on verification.
Subsequently, an inquiry was initiated and based on the report a formal case has been registered, the spokesperson said.
Investigation is in progress, he added.
