Four persons including a police constable were arrested here today for smuggling heroin and around 46 gram of the banned narcotics was seized from their possession, an officer said.
Acting on a tip off, district Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) apprehended and arrested constable Mebanson Shylla and his friend, Franky Wahlang, from Golflink area here.
Following the lead provided by the arrested constable, a 58-year-old Manipuri supplier identified as Zangkhol A L and Vicky Kipgen were arrested from Madanriting Bazar area in the city, the police officer told PTI.
During searches, the ANTF team seized 0.17 gram of heroin from the constable, 4.13 gram of heroin from his friend.
Another 42.39 gram of heroin was also seized from the possession of Zangkhol and Kipgen from Manipur, he said.
According to the ANTF, preliminary investigation revealed that Kipgen was the main carrier who brought the banned narcotic substances from Manipur to Shillong.
