Four persons involved in several criminal cases, including murder, have been arrested from Dwarka sub-city in southwest Delhi and firearms seized from their possession, police said today.
The accused, identified as Neeraj (23), Birjesh (22), Rajesh (30) and Sandeep (24), were on their way to Dwarka court, where they, along with other members of Naveen Bali gang, were planning to shoot down an undertrial - believed to be from their rival gang - who was to be brought there for a hearing, said a senior police official.
The police received a tip-off and laid a trap, leading to their arrest. The police seized two 9mm pistols, one point 32 pistol and one country made pistol from their possession and booked under relevant sections of Arms Act, said the senior official.
Alleged extortionist, Naveen Bali, who is a close aide of gangster Neeraj Bawana and is allegedly involved in several criminal cases, is presently lodged in Tihar jail.
