Four policemen were injured when a mob pelted stones at them and ransacked Dandari police station in the district on a rumour about the reported death of an undertrial prisoner today.
Angry over a rumour about the reported death of their fellow villager and an undertrial prisoner Kishundev Sada, a large people of Meha Mohanpur village attacked the police station and pelted stones at the cops leaving four of them injured, Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said.
The local police officers' plea that the ailing prisoner was alive and under treatment went in vain as the mob ransacked the police station and damaged furniture and other equipments, he said.

The injured policemen, identified as Sub-Inspector (SI) Nityanand Sharma, ASIs Nandkumar Manjhi and Md Mujamil and driver Nandan Tiwary were taken to Balia Primary Health Centre, he said.
The condition of four injured policemen was stable, Civil Surgeon Dr Devendra said.
About the ailing inmate Sada, who was arrested two months ago under the Arms Act and lodged in the divisional jail since then, the SP said the prisoner had been taken to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for treatment.
