Four railway officials, including two Assistant Station Masters, were suspended today in connection with diversion of a train to a wrong station on Sunday.

An inquiry has been ordered into the incident and four railway officials, including Assistant Station Masters of Sahibabad and Ghaziabad stations and a Traffic Inspector of New Delhi station, have been suspended for the goof-up.

Passengers of a summer special train from Patna to Delhi had to face inconvenience on Sunday after the train reached New Delhi station instead of Anand Vihar station.

The special train was scheduled to reach Anand Vihar station in east Delhi but reached New Delhi station instead after taking a wrong track from Sahibabad station, said Northern Railway spokesperson.

The spokesperson said it was a case of wrong routing and not safety issue. "Safety of passengers was not compromised.
