Four sentenced for life in dowry-death case of 2014

Four members of a family were today sentenced to life imprisonment by the court of the District and Session Judge Vishwanath Shukla in connection with a dowry related killing in Palamau district.

The quantum of punishment was announced by the Judge against the victim Mariam Bibi's husband Mubarak Ansari, her father-in-law Aqeem Mian and two brother-in-laws Javed Ansari and Ataul Ansari, under relevant sections of IPC, including 302 IPC.

As per the FIR, which had been lodged at Pipratand police station, the convicts had subjected Mariam Bibi to torture for failing to meet their demand of an auto-rickshaw in dowry and strangled her to death in Kelhua village on November 3, 2014.
 

Mubarak had married Mariam in 2012.
