Four-storeyed house gutted in fire, no one injured

A four-storeyed house was gutted in fire at Nabu panchayat of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh today, rendering 14 families homeless, but no one was injured in the incident.

The owner of the house, Meena Devi, who is also the pradhan of Nabu panchayat, said all members of the 14 families, offshoots of a joint family, staying in the house, had gone to attend a programme at the time of the incident.

As soon as they received information about the fire, they rushed to the house, but could not salvage anything as by then it was engulfed by sky-high flames, officials said.
 

The cause of the fire and exact loss of property could not be ascertained immediately, but the occupants of the house put it at over Rs 1.5 crore.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Tissa Jitendra Singh, reached the spot and assessed the situation. He said an investigation will be launched to know the reason behind the fire and relief will be provided to the affected families.
