Four students drown in river in Odisha

Four teenaged students drowned while taking bath in Brahmani river near here today, police said.

The mishap took place when five friends were taking bath in the river near Tarkera dam and one of them slipped into the water, police said.

While trying to save the boy, his friends were also lost balance and fell into the river and were drowning as they did not know swimming, they said.

Locals managed to drag one of the boys and informed the fire brigade which fished out the bodies of the rest.

Three of the deceased were Class 12 students of a public school here, while the other was studying in an engineering college in Bhubaneswar, sources said.
