Four students were feared drowned today as they went rafting in River Ganga, off Neem beach in Uttarakhand's Tehri district.

The students, all in their twenties, seem to have been swept away by the strong currents of the river when their raft turned turtle at around 4 pm about 22 kms from Muni Ki Reti police station off the beach, the SHO said adding, they were BTech students from Haryana's Kurukshetra University.

None of the bodies has been recovered so far despite four hours of rescue operations, which had to be suspended due to darkness, he said.

Rescue operations will be resumed tomorrow morning, he said.

The students feared drowned are Pankaj Yadav (20) from Kurukshetra, Nishchint (25) from Jammu, Vishal Yadav (20) from Gurgaon, and Prashant (20) from Faridabad.

They had hired a raft from Bhagwan Singh rafting camp at Neem beach along the banks of River Ganga.
