Four students injured in clash over celebrating Teachers' Day

Four students were injured when two groups clashed in a school over celebrating Teachers' Day in Malda district today, the police said.

The incident occurred at Nurpur High School in Manikchak area.

While preparation was on to celebrate the Teachers' Day, an altercation broke out between two group which turned to clashes in which both sides pelted stones injuring four students, the police said.

The injured students were admitted at Manikchak Rural Hospital.

Some guardians also got involved in the clash and police and RAF personnel went to the school to control the situation, police said.

The Teachers' Day programme could not be held in view of the clash. The programme was supposed to be observed today as tomorrow is a holiday on the occasion of 'Janmashtami'.
