Four Taliban militants, planning to carry out a terror attack, were arrested today along with arms and ammunition after police conducted a raid in the restive northwest Pakistan.

Police have arrested four Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) men, thwarting an imminent terror attack, said District Police Chief.

The four men were arrested from Hangu district bordering Kurram and Aurakzai tribal agencies after police carried out a counter-terrorism raid in Bagtu area following information about militants in the area, he said.

Arms and ammunition - including Kalashnikovs, pistols, rocket launcher and explosives - were also seized from their possession, the officer said.

They were planning to carry out terror act in the district in a couple of days, he added.

Pakistan has intensified its fight against militancy after the Peshawar school massacre in December last year in which 150 people, mostly children, were killed by Taliban militants.
