Four teenagers drowned in the

Ganga River near Dhibar village under Pandarak police station area in Patna district today.

The incident happened when five boys went to take a bath in the river this morning, the Police said.

"Something went wrong while they were taking bath and they started drowning. The villagers rushed to their rescue and managed to save one boy, but the other four met a watery grave," said Avinash Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Pandarak police station.

The police pressed trained divers to search for them and the bodies were fished out by late afternoon. All the deceased were in the age group of 16 to 17 years and have been identified as Gulshan Kumar, Raushan Kumar, Dharmendra Kumar and Rajesh Kumar.

"There is a deep ditch in the river where they drowned as water to the NTPC power plant at Barh is supplied from there. It seems the boys slipped or got trapped there and drowned," said the Pandarak SHO.
