Police confiscated four trucks allegedly transporting as many as 74 cattle worth Rs 9 lakh in Chimur tehsil of the district this afternoon and took their drivers into custody.
Acting on a tip off, police intercepted four trucks near Khadsangi in the tehsil and, on inspection, found 74 cattle were being transported illegally to Hinganghat in adjoining Wardha district, an official release said here.
The cattle, worth Rs 9 lakh, were freed and shifted to animal shelters located at Khadsangi and Shivaapur in Chimur tehsil and trucks seized, it said.
The four truck drivers, all residents of the district, were taken into custody, the release said, adding further probe was on.
