The Breakthrough Artist Award, supported by Art India magazine, includes a cash prize of Rs 2,00,000.
Mumbai-based sculpture artist Prabhakar Pachpute, painter Yardena Kurulkar, Noida's Rohini Devasher and Ratna Khanna from Gurgaon are the four shortlisted this year, a statement from the organisers said.
The winner of the prize will be announced on February 1 in New Delhi.
The award promises to provide an excellent platform for artists working in diverse creative mediums and genres like painting, sculpture, photography, performance art, video art, graphic art and installation art, to get their work noticed and appreciated.
It aims to showcase emerging artists who are at the beginning of their careers and to help them gain exposure to a wider audience.
"We aim to build on the reputation the award has established as a benchmark of artistic quality, while also attracting new voices through the Breakthrough Artist Award," said Girish Shahane, director of art, The SKODA Prize.
Launched in 2009 by SKODA Auto India and Seventy EMG, the SKODA Prize is recognised as one of the most influential platforms for Indian contemporary art.
