FourIEDsplanted by Maoists recovered in Chhattisgarh

Four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)planted by Maoists were recovered today by the security forces from Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said.

A joint team of CRPF's 217 battalion and district force recovered the explosives underMaraigudapolice station limits while patrolling to ensure security to the under construction Maraiguda-Golapalliroad, Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP), Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI.

Security forces had launched the operation from Maraiguda towards Golapalli, located around 450 kms away from here since this morning.

About 6-km away fromMaraiguda at around 1120 hours, they spotted the first explosive placed in a steel container, hidden about 20 metres beneath the ground on the under-construction road in the forests.
 

Subsequently, three more IEDs recovered close to the spot, he said.

The explosives were weighed between 5 to 10 kgs, he added.

The IEDs were immediately destroyed by the bomb disposal squad, the SP said, adding thatitwas meant to harm security personnel.
