The special CBI court today again deferred till January 18 the framing of charges against former Punjab and Haryana High court Judge Nirmal Yadav in the 2008 cash-at-judge's door case after she submitted that her plea for a stay is expected to come up before Supreme Court.
The framing of charges in the case had been earlier deferred by the CBI court on November 26 after she had sought time to move the Supreme Court to challenge a recent High Court order refusing to stay the proceedings in the case.
Yadav's counsel S K Garg Narwana today submitted that she had filed her petition before the Supreme Court on December 9 and as the apex court was closing for winter vacation from December 17 to January 3, the plea was not expected to be taken up immediately.
Seeking more time, he requested that any date after January 15 may be given.
Special CBI Judge Vimal Kumar allowed Yadav's plea and deferred the matter till January 18 next year. He directed the accused to remain present on the next hearing.
Yadav appeared in the CBI court, where the other accused were present, towards the end of the proceedings today.
The court today also allowed one of the accused Ravinder Singh Bhasin, a New Delhi-based businessman, to visit China and Thailand from December 15 to December 31.
Bhasin had in a plea sought permission to go abroad in connection with his business.
Judge Vimal Kumar also took note of the fact that Bhasin had earlier also complied with the conditions laid down by the court when it had allowed him to visit England from June 15 to June 29 this year.
