French Consul General in Kolkata, Fabrice Etienne, after a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said his country was keen on exploring the scope of investments to the state.

"The state with its enriched cultural heritage has a lot to share with other parts of the world," Etienne said after discussions with the chief minister on a wide spectrum of issues including potential for business in the state.

The consul also sought more cultural exchanges with the state.

"We have great respect for the renowned film director Satyajit Ray for his award winning film Panther Panchali and Nobel Laureate litterateur Rabindra Nath Tagore for his works. We want more and more cultural exchange programmes with this eastern Indian state," Etienne said.

The Chinese Consul General in Kolkata Zhang Lizhong also paid a courtesy call to the chief minister.
