German stock market operator Deutsche Boerse said trading on its derivatives exchange Eurex was suspended for more than an hour earlier today owing to technical problems.

"Today, the Eurex Exchange market was halted at 8:20 am (0620 GMT) in order to protect the integrity of the market. The market halt was triggered by an incorrect time synchronisation within the system. The problem was resolved, pre-trading started at 9:20 am and as of 9:30 am all products were again tradable," Deutsche Boerse said in a short statement.

The last market halt at Eurex Exchange was on October 11, 2011, it added.

Last week, an unexplained technical glitch shut down trade on the Nasdaq for more than three hours, an unprecedented halt on the second-largest US stock exchange.
