As part of a unique way of promoting women empowerment and female literacy, two girls of Jalore district were given free helicopter rides today.
Kamla Kumari who secured 88.7 per cent in her secondary examination and Chinku Kumari, a first year BA student and gold medal recipient in national level boxing tournament were given the ride, introduced as an attraction for the three-day Jalore Festival, beginning tomorrow.
Jitendra Kumar Soni, District collector, Jalore said that there could not have been any better and benign start to the festival with the ride being its most attractive feature.

"By doing so, we not only tried to recognize the education and empowerment of girls but also tried to give a message to the society to promote girls education," he said.
Kamla, after deboarding the chopper said that it was an unimaginable gift from the administration to her.
"I am happy that I was chosen based on academic performance and would like the girls to pursue higher studies in their life. I would also request the parents to motivate their daughter to achieve big," she said.
The chopper rides will be available to all from tomorrow who are interested in taking an aerial view of Jalore.
"We have rolled out 5 different packages for the air jaunt covering varied expanse of the district," Manvendra Rajpurohit, festival coordinator said.
Senior citizens, differently abled persons and group bookings will attract a 10 per cent discount, he added.
