Free insulin injections to diabetics in govt hospitals in Har

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has accorded approval for including insulin injections for patients suffering from diabetes (type 1) in the list of free drugs supplied in OPDs, an official spokesman said here today.

This decision would benefit diabetic patients, especially the poor, he said adding it would cost nearly Rs 30 lakh per annum.

The main treatment for type 1 diabetic patients was insulin injection, the spokesman said.

On an average, requirement of insulin per patient was 25 units a day and cost of 2 vials per patients was Rs 120 per month, he said.
