Free lab tests in govt hospitals in Jammu, Srinagar till Dec

Jammu and Kashmir government today said free bio-chemical and pathological tests will be carried out at its medical colleges and hospitals in Jammu and Srinagar till December end in view of devastating floods in the state.

"As a means of succour to the flood affected people of the state, the government has ordered continuation of free bio-chemical and pathological tests at government hospitals till end of December," an official spokesman said.

He said these tests would be conducted at government medical colleges in Srinagar and Jammu and their associated hospitals.

Besides, these free tests would be conducted at all government hospitals in Kashmir and Jammu divisions except Kupwara, Leh, Kargil, Samba, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
 

Meanwhile, a team of officers of Drug and Food Control Organization (DFCO) and Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) conducted surprise checks and raids in Iqbal Park and Karan Nagar areas of the city following complaints that certain drug and food establishments are selling flood-hit medicines and food articles to consumers.

The establishments were forced to shut their operations forthwith till such time a satisfactory compliance report with respect to their hygienic condition and good trade practices was furnished, he said.

He said traders have been warned of strict action if anyone is found indulging in such practices.
