Free mixies& grinders for all families from Aug 21: CM

: Chief Minister N Rangasamy today announced that all families covered under the family ration card system would be given mixies and grinders free of cost and the scheme would be launched on August 21.

Speaking after presenting gift hampers to freedom fighters of Puducherry on 54th De Jure Transfer Day of the union territory, he said government school students passing out of Class XII in the previous academic year would also be handed free laptops. This scheme would also be rolled out on Aug 21.

Rangasamy claimed his government was implementing all assurances given to the people without any delay. Job seekers were being selected on merit to various government posts. Jobs would be given to 2500 youths in the next two months, he said.
 

Implementation of educational aid under Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Education Assistance scheme for students pursuing medical and engineering courses had generated a number of doctors and engineers belonging to poor families, he said.

The CM assured that welfare schemes, infrastructure development, educational facilities, health care services and other amenities would be available without any hiccups.

He said the government was drawing up a plan to celebrate November 1 this year (de facto merger day of Puducherry and other French establishments) in a grand manner as the day had been declared as 'Independence Day of Puducherry'.

Each of the 1,824 freedom fighters was handed a blanket and sweet box on the occasion of de jure transfer day.

Government distributes a monthly pension of Rs 7,000 to each freedom fighter and Rs 14.20 crore was being disbursed each year for payment of pension, an official in Freedom Fighters Cell told PTI on the sidelines of the function.
