Free screening for detection of Prostate Cancer

Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research, as part of its project DEEPAM (Detect Early Ensure Prevention and Management) started in 2005, launched free screening for prostate cancer in men above 50 years, on the World Cancer day, being observed today.

Deepam project began with screening women for cervix and breast cancer free of cost and extended it to the free screening of oral cavity cancer in tobacco users in 2012.

Now it has forayed into the screening for prostate cancer, as its phase III program, Dr.P.Guhan, Director and Chief of the Institute, said.

To ensure, emphasise and encourage men in this category to undergo screening for prostate cancer, free screening will be on till March four, Guhan said.
