Delhi Jal Board will provide free sewer connections to the original allottees of the newly legalised colonies, Mukesh Sharma, parliamentary secretary to Chief Minister said today.
DJB has given a legal sanction to the work by issuing a notification with regard to the colony in the Mohan Garden area of Uttam Nagar, Sharma, who is also spokesperson of the Congress Legislative Party, said.
Meanwhile, in the 10th phase of his Vijay-Vishwas Yatra, Sharma today covered 11 km in Mohan Garden and Bindapur areas of his constituency.
Addressing the gatherings at various places, Sharma said, "The fact that the DJB has issued a notification for the rates at which sewer lines will be laid in unauthorised colonies is a clear indication that the colonies now have legal sanction."
The notification clearly states that people living in 100 metre plots will have to pay Rs 494 per metre and not Rs 4,100, he added.
He further informed that there was a 20 per cent discount for anyone who wanted to make the entire payment at one time within three months of the notification. After three months, they would be entitled to a 10 per cent discount.
"The work on laying the sewer lines would be carried out speedily despite attempts by the BJP to derail the project by raising the model code of conduct issue. BJP is principally against unauthorised colonies," said Sharma.
