Freedom fighter Debendra Kumar Das passes away

Freedom fighter and Gandhian Debendra Kumar Das died tonight following a heart attack in a private hospital in Guwahati, family sources said.

He was 95.

Das was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition on Thursday night, said his son Ratul Choudhury, who is the vice president of Samajwadi Party Assam unit.

Das was the former chairman of Assam State Prohibition Council and Assam State Bhudan Gramdan Board and vice chairman of Khadi Village Industries Board.

The social worker is survived by his wife and three sons.
