Noted Punjabi freedom fighter Wassan Singh has died and was cremated full state honours here today.
He breathed his last yesterday evening at the age of 95.
A contingent of Punjab police reversed their arms and fired shots into the air as a mark of respect to him.

Singh was a member of the Royal Indian Army during the British Raj and fought in the second World War. He later joined the Indian National Army (INA) led by Subhash Chandra Bose.
He was imprisoned in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for several years.
He is survived by his wife Gurbachan Kaur, two sons and three daughters.
