Railways has generated Rs 95,136.34 crore from freight traffic during April 2014-February 2015 as compared to Rs 84,379.49 cr during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 12.75 per cent.
Railways carried 9660 million tonnes (MT) of commodity-wise traffic during April-February as compared to 953.05 MT carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.51 per cent, according to Railway Ministry data.
During February 2015, Railways generated Rs 9127.09 cr as compared to Rs 7878.48 cr during the same period last year, registering an increase of 15.85 per cent.

It earned Rs 722.86 cr from 4.67 MT of food grains, Rs 452.79 cr from 3.25 MT of petroleum oil and lubricant (POL), Rs 547.80 cr from 3.17 MT of Pig iron and finished steel from steel plants and other points, Rs 489.43 cr from 3.95 MT of fertilizers, Rs 169.14 cr from 1.56 MT of raw material for steel plants except iron ore, Rs 416.57 cr from 3.69 MT by container service and Rs 611.11 cr from 6.21 MT of other goods.
