Freight rates down on easy truck positions; diesel prices cut

In Delhi, diesel will now cost Rs 48.26 a litre, the lowest since April 2013, as against Rs 50.51

Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section eased up to Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport market today due easy availability of trucks amid cut in diesel prices.

Transporters said besides easy availability of trucks, cut in diesel prices by oil companies mainly weighed on freight rates.

In Delhi, diesel will now cost Rs 48.26 a litre, the lowest since April 2013, as against Rs 50.51.

Delhi to Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Pondicherry rates dropped by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 54,000, Rs 63,000 and Rs 64,000.

Vijaywada, Chennai, Mysore and Kochi freight rates asked lower by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 56,000, Rs 62,000, Rs 68,000 and Rs 73,000.
 

Freights to Goa, Coimbatore, Patna, Kolkata and Kanpur also lost Rs 1,000 each at Rs 48,000, Rs 68,000, Rs 24,000, Rs 29,000, Rs 17,000.
