Freight rates up on shortage of trucks

Freight rates for nine-tonne load section for select destinations rose by Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport market today on tight position of trucks.

Transporters said less availability of trucks against pickup in cargo movements mainly pushed up rates for select destinations.

Capital to Coimbatore and Kochi rates moved up by Rs 1,000 each at Rs 69,000 and Rs 74,000, respectively.

Rates to Pondicherry and Banglore also went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 66,000 and Rs 61,000.
