Freight rates up on tight truck position, busy cargo movements

Freight rates for the nine-tonne payload section rose by Rs 1000 at the local truck transport market today following paucity of trucks in the market amid better cargo movements.

Transporters said thin availability of trucks and increased cargo movements mainly pushed up some of centres freight rates.

Delhi to Vijayawada, Goa, Guwahati and Kolkata freight rates moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 61,000, Rs 60,000, Rs 62,000 and Rs 31,000.

Rates to Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Surat and Baroda also went up by Rs 1000 each to Rs 73,000, Rs 81,000, Rs 29,000, Rs 27,000 and Rs 21,000.
