French President Emmanuel Macron has delayed the announcement of his first cabinet until 1300 GMT tomorrow, a day later than originally planned, his office said today.
The delay was to allow checks to be made on the "tax status" of potential ministers and any possible conflicts of interest, the presidency said in a statement.
Although the extra background checks were the reasons given for the delay, it is possible 39-year-old Macron also needs more time to complete a delicate balancing act.
Macron, a centrist, has promised to include faces from the left and right as well as political newcomers in his first government.
