A French-era market building here which was built in 1865 and demolished in May, is all set to be reconstructed with the financial assistance from World Bank, Puducherry PWD Minister Namashivayam said today.
Laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction project he said that the historic market building will be reconstructed in the same French style at a cost of Rs 10.05 crore.
It would have ample parking space, cafeteria, ATMs and cold storage facilities, he said.
Namashivayam further said that the reconstruction work will be carried out by the tsunami project implementation agency functioning under the control of Karaikal Municipality.
