French national caught with narcotics, sent to JC

Additional Sessions Judge Narinder Kumar remanded Bregand Oliver, 31 to judicial custody till September 19.

Oliver was apprehended last night by Crime Branch of the city police on a tip-off.

Police told the court that Oliver was staying in Paharganj area and was involved in sending huge amount of Ketamine to foreign countries illegally through courier.

He was apprehended by the police while carrying Ketamine, basically an animal tranquiliser but abused as a party drug in Europe, in a big plastic bag in Central Delhi.

A search of his bag led to recovery of white-coloured powder and some plants which were Ketamine. The contraband was addressed to a person in Chicago.

 

Oliver could not produce any legal document mandating him to possess or export the drug.

A case has been registered under various provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The investigating officer told the court that the French embassy has been informed about Oliver's arrest and they have contacted him to provide legal aid.
