French national held in Rameswaram for 'overstaying'

A French national was today detained here for allegedly overstaying in the country after the expiry of his visa, police said.

The detained person has been identified as one Meslier Philippe Alain. His visa had expired on May 23, police said, adding that this was his second visit to the country.

The Frenchman has earlier visited Nepal, Thailand, Peru, Brazil, Cambodia and Bolivia, they said.
