Fresh batch of 1,514 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

A batch of 1,514 pilgrims today left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.

The batch comprising 1,059 men, 297 women, 11 children and 147 others left in a cavalcade of 44 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 04:55 AM, a police official said.

The convoy has already reached Kud on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

With today's batch, as many as 35,923 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath shrine.

Meanwhile, over 2,50,000 pilgrims had darshan of Ice Lingam, situated at an altitude of 3888 meters, till last evening.
