Amid tight security, a fresh batch of 97 pilgrims today left for Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas.

The batch comprising 88 men, eight women and one child left in a cavalcade of four vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at around 0430 hours.

The fresh batch went in Army convoy and crossed Kud area when the reports last came in.

The ongoing yatra was suspended from the Jammu base camp on August 10, a day after communal clashes erupted in Kishtwar that left three dead and scores injured.

Curfew was also imposed in several districts of Jammu region after the outbreak of communal violence.

The yatra was resumed yesterday from Jammu.
