Fresh batch of pilgrims leave for Amarnath shrine

A fresh batch of 707 pilgrims today left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.

The batch comprising of 541 men, 113 women, six children and 47 sadhus left in a motorcade of 19 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 04:50 AM, a police official said.

The convoy has already reached Ramban on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

With today's batch, as many as 42,595 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the shrine.
