Manjunath Desai, a police inspector who was investigating the case at the time, has now told the Anjuna police that the woman died at the hospital within just one and a half hour after her admission around 6 AM on April 14, 2010.

Goa Police, during its earlier investigations had said that the death was due to drug overdose but family members of Sweeny, based on the autopsy report had claimed that there was no trace of drugs or alcohol and demanded further probe.

Anjuna Police is now probing the death as a murder after the case was reopened a fortnight ago following diplomatic pressure from the UK.

Following this, police inspector Rahul Parab told PTI that all the witnesses were being re-interrogated by the police.

Desai, who headed the probe then, told investigators that the deceased was under heavy dose of alcohol and drugs when she was admitted to the hospital.

The eye witnesses, who were examined then and now, have confirmed that Denyse was hopping bars before she entered the night club at Vagator, where she collapsed.

"She had visited three bars in Anjuna-Vagator belt. When admitted to the hospital, she was in coma," Desai told police during fresh investigations.

During her bar hopping, the deceased fell off at one of the bar counters but regained consciousness and went ahead partying to another spot, the officer told investigators.

Also, as part of the fresh probe, police has taken CCTV footage of the night club where Sweeny was seen entering with two foreigners, who had later shifted her to the hospital.
