FSA to be launched in Mizoram in February

Mizoram Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister John Rotluangliana today said that the Food Security Act (FSA) would be launched in the state in February while food grains as per provisions of the act would be distributed to the people from March.

Rotluangliana said that the actual implementation of the FSA was scheduled to commence from March as the Food Corporation of India (FCI) would issue the rice allotment only on March one.

Rotluangliana was addressing the ruling Congress workers at the Congress Bhavan here,

He said that over 7.06 lakh families in the state would be covered by the FSA where each family would receive 40 kilos of rice at the rate of Rs 3/kg.
 

"As of now, the AAP and BPL families purchased rice at the rate of Rs 6/kg," he said, adding that the State Consumer's Commission would look after implementation of the FSA without constitution a new FSA Commission.
