FSSAI orders recall of 'Restless Energy Drink'

Food safety watchdog FSSAI today ordered recall of 'Restless Energy Drink', with immediate effect, as it contains an irrational combination of ginseng and caffeine, which can have an opposing effect on human body.

In an order addressed to Pune-based firm Pushpam Foods and Beverages, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed "to recall the existing product from the market under intimation to FSSAI as the same has been declared unsafe."

Besides, it has ordered immediate stoppage of manufacturing, sale and distribution of the product.

"It has been found on scrutiny that your aforementioned product also contains a formulation of ginseng and caffeine.
 

"Hence, keeping the aforesaid in view, the FSSAI is constrained to withdraw the NOC dated December 16, 2013 for the product.

"Restless Energy Drink and you are directed to stop the manufacturing/sale/distribution etc of the above products with immediate effect," FSSAI said in the order.
