The FTII administration today served notices to 13 students from past batches for "overstaying" and asked them to vacate their on-campus rooms.

Meanwhile, the strike by the FTII students protesting against appointment of TV actor Gajendra Chauhan as its chairman entered the 42nd day today.

According to an official release, the students, who were served notices, were overstaying even after completion of their diploma courses.

Meanwhile, city police registered an FIR against about 10 students of FTII following a complaint by one of staff members of the institute Sanjay Chandekar, who alleged that the inmates had tried to harass and intimidate him.

The FTII Students' Association (FSA), however, denied the allegation saying the FIR lodged was "false and baseless".

"How a complaint from a staff could be turned into an FIR without internal inquiry by the FTII administration?" it asked, adding that it had no malice against the person concerned and it was responsibility of the FTII administration and police to ensure safety of Chandekar.

Chandekar is attached to Radio FTII and had reportedly criticised the agitation launched by the students since June 12.

The FSA also said, "We are away from our home and families and feel threatened by violent acts (reference to vandalism outside the FTII gate a few days back, in which an art installation symbolising the students' protest was dismantled by a group) and presence of police in and around the campus.
