An assurance to this effect came from the government when Leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt moved an adjournment motion in the House on the alleged sluggish pace of restoration work in the affected areas of Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts. These areas faced the brunt of cloudbursts in August and September this year, leaving a trail of death and disaster.

Replying to the adjournment motion on behalf of the government, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Indira Hridayesh said Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna had already taken up the matter with the Centre which has promised to soon make funds available for the purpose.

Admitting that work on the repair of roads and bridges had been slow, she said it was due to the paucity of funds. The moment such assistance is received from the Centre, work will start and be completed within six months, she said.
