Funerals of Army paratrooper, 2 CRPF personnel held in Rajasthan

The mortal remains of an Army paratrooper and two CRPF personnel, who were killed in Jammu and Kashmir, were today consigned to flames in their villages in Rajasthan.

Army paratrooper Mukut Bihari Meena (25) was killed in a gunfight with militant groups in Kupwara on July 11, while CRPF personnel Mishri Lal Meena and Sandeep Kumar died in a terror attack in Anantnag yesterday.

The cremation of Mukut Bihari Meena took place at his village in Jhalawar district with full military honour, defence spokesperson Sombit Ghosh said.

His five-month-old daughter, Aarvi, performed his last rites in Ladaniya village.

CRPF constable Sandeep Kumar Yadav's cremation was performed at Bansur in Alwar district where Union minister Rajyawardhan Singh Rathore also paid floral tributes.

 

Mishri Lal Meena, CRPF ASI,was the resident of Deoli in Tonk district and his cremation was performed in his ancestral village.

CRPF gave both of them guard of honour, a district soldier welfare officer said.

Public representatives, officials from the Army, the district administration, the police and large number of locals paid homage to Mukut Bihari Meena, a three para regiment jawan who used to work with Sector 8 Rashtriya Rifles.

One of his relatives told reporters that Mukut Bihari Meena had called up his brother saying that he would be visiting home on Rakshabandhan in August, but instead he came home wrapped in the tricolour.

Lieutenant Colonel Rajesh Choudhary, who accompanied the body, said he had displayed extraordinary courage and gallantly while taking on the militants.

State minister Babulal Verma announced that a link road of 1.9 km would soon be built from the Baran-Khanpur national highway at a cost of Rs. 3. 37 core to Ladaniya village.
