City-based online premium home furniture rental company Furlenco said it is in talks with Warren Buffett-acquired office furniture and corporate relocation services firm Cort for an alliance.

"We are in talks with Cort, an office furniture and corporate relocation services company which was acquired by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathway, to ink an alliance with it to leverage global experience of the US-based company and apply it to improve its business in the Indian market," Furlenco Founder Ajith Mohan told PTI on the sidelines of the 'Sheroes Summit - Women Make Digital India'.

Asked when the final pact would be reached, Mohan said, "If the talks go well, we will reach the pact with Cort by next quarter, that's in March next year."

Replying to a query, Mohan said the partnership will also enable both companies to exchange customers, and his company will be looking at expats who have moved to India.

"The partnership will enable both companies to exchange customers. In India it's about uncertainty. People who are moving around, who have just moved to a new city or are looking for better furniture...We are looking at expats who have moved to India," he said.

Asked whether the company plans to raise more funds, Mohan said, "We are in talks to raise yet another funding of $20-30 million to expand our operations. We had raised $6 million in series A funding in March from Lightbox Ventures," he said.

Furlenco has been able to garner an active customer base of 2,500 houses, with plans to take the number to 3,000 by year end.

"We are growing at 20 per cent month-on-month," Mohan added.

To another query, Mohan said the company has tied up with refurbished home appliance provider Greendust to provide special packages to its customers. "Greendust is also funded by Lightbox Ventures," he said.

The company, which was founded in 2012 as RentUrDuniyaand rebranded Furlenco later, plans to expand to Gurgaon, Pune and Hyderabad, Mohan said.
