A futile attempt was today made to loot money by breaking open an Automated Teller Machine of a private bank near Periyanaickenpalayam, 25 km from here.
A customer, who came to withdraw money this morning, noticed the damaged ATM at Samanaicken Palayam and informed bank authorities, who in turn alerted police.
Since the ATM had CCTV, efforts are on to identify and nab the culprits using the footage, police said.
